thunder and lightning

full nights of sleep are a rarity these days. krispin just went through a fairly violent round of teething - 4 at once, i imagine is no fun. on the tail end of teething woes we had a day of more-violent-than-usual thunderstorms. the storms were welcomed in one way because they ended a week of oppressive heat and humidity. however, when several storms roll through the middle of the night one begins to wonder: heat and humidity, or thunder and lightning?... krispin, as he is quite aware of what is going on around him, woke up each time a storm rolled through. fortunately, they do not scare him yet. instead he has to give a running commentary... *boom* goes the thunder, "boon!" says krispin. *flash* goes the lightning, "dai!" says krispin ('dai' is krispin's word for light). after about 20 minutes of this you can imagine it getting old. at 2 in the morning it is sometimes difficult to remember that i, too, enjoy the power and drama of a good thunderstorm, when safely indoors! those storms rolled through about 3 days ago now, and they are still a topic of conversation for krispin. we all did eventually go back to sleep, and when all was said and done, the temperature was much cooler - just the way i like it, in fact. and we enjoyed a good, long, much needed nap yesterday!
